How our water system works

I cannot believe I did not post this earlier.  I suppose I was to busy to notice.  This is a very very tiny island so any ground water tends to be brackish or salty.  There is a small dug well that is pumped up to a holding tank on occasion.  This holding tank is used to supply the kitchen taps, showers and toilets.  It's simple and effective.  We don't drink it of course.  We use treated and filtered rain water stored in cisterns for that.

Pretty thick piping from the pump

The cistern.  Pretty cool eh

  2. Way cool eh. Chris, one of the dive masters here originally saw some creepy crawlies in that well prompting diligence is not drinking the water. I saw none but still supported the common acceptance of washing/flushing only and boiling for consumption.
