Monkey Poo Forest and Scooters

I call it the Monkey Poo Forest.  It's cool.  http://www.monkeyforestubud.com/ Very very well fed monkeys living in a forest.  They poo of course and I was fortunate enough to put my hand in some on a banister.  I realized there are little cute monkey poo's like all over the place.  Most was frequently power washed away by the staff and nobody seems to notice or care.  Well I did and I washed my hands really good.  Don't get me wrong these are cool creatures and this place is neat, just look out for poo. Other than that the past few days have included just randomly walking where our feet and spirit take us.  We began communication with Julie our awesome travel agent about some big KT flight changes. We were originally planning KT flies from Fiji/Singapore/Jakarta.  We learned and heard that Jakarta is a big crazy city that offers very few cool things for us all to see.  It made no sense to fly there to great KT.  2 tickets there and 3 back to Bali.  We could have left things as is and have KT on one more flight to Bali. This would have meant a solo night in Jakarta.  Kinda scary.  We chose to cancel her original flight and now are hoping for Fiji/Singapore/Bali.  Overall the $ is a little more but we skip wasting time/CO2/Risk.  Hope it works out.  In the meantime I figured since we are here for a longer time, let's get more mobile.  Scooters are super cheap (Less than $6 per day), require no license, super fuel efficient (gas is really cheap) and can be parked anywhere.  We got a scooter today for 5 days.  It's kinda scary as the road rules are mostly lawless it seems.  It's totally like Mario Cart out there.  You essentially have to be an asshole and just push your way around.  I can do that.  It will take a few more drives before I get the balance.  The bikes brakes are toast and the throttle is twitchy but I'll get it.  We took our first "ride" today to Tegallalang Rice Terrace. http://www.bali-indonesia.com/ubud/tegallalang-rice-terraces.htm  So beautiful.  Hope you like the pics.

Here we go in the Monkey Forest

We heard this interesting constant sound coming from the trees
The pattern was so perfect we thought it was artificial
Our guide later told us this was a mystery to him once as a child as well
Listen to it here

I Googled a little and it appears to be a Balinese Cicada

  1. So I can only guess the mystery sound was some exotic birds, but I have no idea what they are.
