The rainy season is officially soon to start and mother nature gave us a hint of the rainfall rate one evening. It was cool. I chose to test how wet I would get with only an umbrella and my rain coat. Wet shorts, undies, legs and shoes resulted. Good to know what we may "need" to upgrade. We bumped into our native artist friend who showed us an impressive piece he is preparing to give a friend. We had a most amazing tour of the Green School. https://www.greenschool.org/ I liberated this from their web site
"We educate for sustainability, through community-integrated, entrepreneurial learning, in a wall-less, natural environment. Our holistic, student-guided approach inspires and empowers us to be green leaders."
Impressive to say the least. The tour was run by Chris Thompson a parent and former director. This video is a great intro to the concepts schools like Green School is "getting back" to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtiaEMCdfF0
We were so happy to reconnect with Mely from Germany on this same tour. We met and became friends on our Uluru tour in Australia and it was no coincidence we connected once again. We hung out with Mely for her last few days in Indonesia, toured around by foot and ate beautiful vegan food
Our first evening we saw the beautiful Legong Dance. http://www.bali-indonesia.com/magazine/legong-dance.htm Our video was not as good as this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=9QE9Fp0OnBA
The next day we did the local and free Campuhan Ridge Walk http://www.bali-indonesia.com/magazine/campuhan-ridge-walk-bali.htm. Mely recommended another awesome Vegan resteraunt called Zest. OMG yum http://www.zestubud.com/ I say it's pricey but it's all relative. The 3 of us pigged out. Healthy shots, amazing entrees, wicked desert and still only $60 for all 3 adults. In TO this would have been at least double this. I'm moving here :-)
Holy rain batman
Rivers on the roads and sidewalks
Our painter friend
Closer
Amazing eh
Dinner at the Paradiso
for like the 6th time, they know us now
Yay Green School
Bamboo is as strong as steel
It makes amazing structures like this common area
About 400 students attend school here in structures all over their large campus
A previous school project now an active chicken home
Compost and recycling
A really beautiful bridge
Again, babmbo
The river this bridge spans
The bridge makes a nice meeting place
Jane Goodall talked with Chris in this same spot, cool
After multiple natural water pools for filtering, cleaned water hit these gardens
Look at the clear roof, those are reused vehicle windshields
The wood/metal/construction shop
Don't be fooled by the simplicity, this is an advanced shop
That for example is an electronic farm bot current;y being evaluated
Yay our friend Mely
Ahh, time to relax
Time for a fancier dinner I think
Gao Gajah
It was so hot, I went inside this cave,no time to pose
Like my Sarong, it's respectful to wear one in these temples
After the temple, a walk around the grounds
That's me with the umbrella
Not to many others doing this here
That will change soon
Intentionally 2 notches dark on exposure
As an experiment
Posr processed to see if it helps, what do you think?
Look at those tree roots
Not very busy at the restaurant by the exit
Yum
Yum 2
I asked for hot
It was both ways
Cute little photo spot
Aww
Legong Dance
Any excuse to drive the scooter
This time to drive Mely back to her hostil
Campuhan Ridge Walk
Smart girl
I like Mely's approach to hot weather
Took a coconut break
These things are huge
I suspect a litre of water inside
Cool tea, it starts purple
Add some lime
It ends purple
Yummy and beautiful
